This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use our app, in compliance with the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement and applicable UK laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Information We Collect

Account Information: When an account is created through the app, we collect an email address and a device identifier (Android ID) to identify the account and provide access to PetHunter services.
User Content: Users may create additional content through the PetHunter website, including usernames, passwords, custom pets, pet descriptions, pet images, hunting logs, GPX activity files, and other gameplay-related content.
Usage Data: We collect information on how you interact with the app, including activity information, GPS data, gameplay data, device information, captured pets, hunting logs, and GPX activity files to provide and improve the PetHunter experience.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies: Our website uses cookies to improve functionality and analyse traffic. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings.
Location Data: We collect precise location data (GPS) to track your running distance, pace, and route. This data is collected in the background while you are actively tracking a run, even if the app is closed or not in use, to ensure your distance and speed are recorded accurately against the virtual pets.

Advertising ID and Analytics

We use analytics services, such as Firebase, to understand how users interact with our app and improve performance. These services may collect your device's Advertising ID (a resettable identifier provided by your device) for analytics and fraud prevention. We do not use this ID for personalised advertising. You can reset or opt out of the Advertising ID by adjusting your device settings.

How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the app and website.
To personalise user experience and improve app functionality.
To save gameplay progress, captured pets, hunting logs and activity history.

Data Retention

PetHunter retains account information, gameplay progress, captured pets, hunting logs, GPX activity files, and related data for as long as the account remains active.

Guest account information may also be retained to allow users to continue using the service and later convert their guest account into a full account.

Data may be retained for longer where required for legal obligations, fraud prevention, security purposes, or to maintain the integrity of gameplay records.

Data Deletion

Users may request deletion of their account and associated personal data at any time by contacting support@pethunter.co.uk.

Once a deletion request has been verified, account information and associated personal data will be deleted within a reasonable period unless we are required to retain certain information for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Where a user has created custom pets that have been hunted by other users, PetHunter may retain non-personal gameplay information associated with those pets to preserve hunting records and statistics. Upon request, identifying content such as pet names, descriptions, and images may be removed and replaced with generic placeholders such as "Removed by Creator", while non-personal gameplay statistics remain available.

Deleting an account may permanently remove gameplay progress, captured pets, hunting logs, GPX activity files, achievements, and other account-related data.

Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your data. However, no security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the security of your data.
